Description

Turn off the lights when you exit the office in the evening for the night. If no one is at work to need the lights, energy is wasted and the life of the bulb is being consumed.

Assumptions We Made

Only control one light, in individual workspace. Turning off single light with 32 Watt bulb (e.g., bulb at desk), out of office for 16 hours in a day. You would reap additional savings beyond our projection if a higher wattage bulb is in your fixture, if multiple fixtures are typically left on, and if you are out of the house longer hours.

Impacts

Initial Impacts

Each time you carry out this action, the immediate impacts are:

  • Saves 0.51 kilowatt hours
  • Saves 0.70 lbs of CO2

Ongoing Impacts

Some actions also have additional impact over time. For this action, these are:

  • Unknown

Potential Annual Impact

We assume that this action will be carried out daily (about 160 times a year). In this case, in a year you could save:
  • 81.92 kilowatt hours
  • 111.36 lbs of CO2
